The Challenge

Create a temporary classroom in public woship

The Solution

Any public worship facility sometimes has to be creative with how they use their space to accommodate members. River Oaks Islamic Center, in particular, needed a solution for separate classroom space in a large hall in their building. This classroom space needs to create privacy for those within the area and limit excess noise that causes distractions. As a result, River Oaks reached out to Screenflex to purchase freestanding, portable walls to provide privacy in a classroom setting.

The Screenflex Standard Dividers used in this facility helps create the sectioned-off classroom shown. River Oaks placed the screens flat on the wall at a 90-degree angle and connects at the opposite end. This design gives the space an enclosed room-like appearance. Although not wholly soundproof, the divider does help with acoustical needs because of the honeycomb core in each panel. These panels, at the very least, can absorb harsh echoes and silence some of the loudness from space to space.

This Islamic Center maximizes every inch of its facility by creating its own classroom in unused hall space. The best part is when they need the space for something else, these room dividers fold compactly and can be stored out of the way.
